A Few of My Favorite People (Whom I’ve Never Met)

This may sound really weird to some of you non-social media people but I have some people in my life that I love but they don’t know me. I mean, we may have exchanged a couple messages back and forth but they don’t KNOW me.

But that’s the beauty of social media. I have a way to connect or be inspired by people who normally aren’t within reach. I have a few that I look forward to seeing what they’re up to each day because they are inspiring, good people, giving, and funny as hell. I thought I’d share them with you, too, and why,

Living with Landyn

This girl. I started following her back when she had around 20K followers on Instagram and now she’s up to 200K! What I love about her is that while she’s living a pretty dreamy life, she created it all herself. She’s a great boss, mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend and one that I look up to immensely.

She has so much to offer her followers as her gifts and talents seem limitless. She does it all! What I love most is that all of that is matched with a desire to help others. She decorates her home in an easy monochromatic style and shows you the how and where you can go to do the same. She plans amazing parties and takes you along the aisles of Target, Party City, and HomeGoods as she shops. She’s even filled up a cart with her favorite things and left it for anyone to come grab and checkout. She models the clothes she buys online and links to all the items with discount codes, thank you very much.

She has graced the pages of Nashville magazines and won local awards for best blog and Instagram account. She has produced Landyn Live! shows to show up in a new and fun way for her followers/fans and has had a massive “Buy What’s in My Closet” sale and donated the money to charity.

She decided to open her own store in Nashville which is killing it and so bummed it wasn’t open yet when I was there this summer. Girls’ trip, anyone?

I told you she does it all. I mean she dreams it up then makes it happen. Landyn admits she has no idea what she’s doing but she goes for it anyway. She is all of us but just a few (okay, A LOT) steps ahead.

She’s the best friend/sister/neighbor you wish you had in your every day life but with the magic of Instagram, I feel like I do. She’ll chat with you while emptying the dishwasher and while taking her makeup off before bed. If that’s not a very best friendy thing to do, I don’t know what is.

She’s a must follow on Instagram @livingwithlandyn and her blog is loaded with ALL THE THINGS you will ever need.

Mary Jo Anderson

I found this beautiful soul from Landyn when Mary Jo invited Landyn and her team to stay at the Bea’s Nest, a Mary Jo’s vacation rental home located on the Isle of Palms in South Carolina. I fell in love with her and her sweet family instantly. She has three adorable and FUNNY kiddos and a hunky husband who is dotes on her. It should all just make me sick with all that she has in her life but she’s just so darn sweet that I want to just hug her instead!

She is giving, thoughtful and enjoys life to the fullest. Her Instagram stories are a mix of dreaminess (her home design is uh-mazing) to hysterical when she hops on with her kids.

I look forward to reading up on what she’s up to and seeing her beautiful soul show up for others each day. If I was ever to move to the east coast, I think Newburyport is the place. It’s like the Stars Hollow of Massachusetts. No joke.

She’s creating a new podcast called Port 2 Palm and can’t wait to tune into what it’s all about.

Look her up on Instagram at @port2palm

Heather McMahan

As I type this, I realized that I found her through Landyn as well and I’m so glad I did. Heather is a comedian and she is f*cking hilarious. She does characters, rips on New York (where she lives now), shares her Absolutely Nots and Yesses, argues with her mom Robin, gets vulnerable about her dad’s death and loves on her fiancé Jeff while also making fun of him. She’s my kind of gal.

She’s on tour right now and her stories from the road are priceless. If you are looking for a comedy break or what to feel like you’re back in college with your bestie, check Heather out. She is on the rise and can’t wait for her to become mainstream. Rarely do people make me LOL but Heather is a sure thing.

You can find her on Instagram @heatherkmcmahan and on her podcast, Absolutely Not.

The Bucket List Family

I can’t even begin to describe the love I have for these people. I know that sounds weird but hear me out. I’ve been following them for so long that I can’t imagine not knowing they were in the world. Garrett and Jessica Gee and their darling kiddos, Dorothy, Manila and Cali are about as sweet as can be.

Garrett is an entrepreneur who ended up selling his first company for $54 million to Snapchat and put his cut into savings. Yes, savings. He and his wife decided to sell all of their belongings and travel for three months before he dove back into another venture. Well, that three months turned into four, then six and they just kept going.

They started a video log on YouTube to chronicle their adventures and began getting quite a following. GoPro was one of their first big sponsors and then hotels began reaching out asking them to stay. Their channel took off and besides getting to watch them on their unbelievable travel adventures, I’ve seen them have a baby, share their personal struggles, buy their first home, and show up for others along the way.

They are wonderful people doing wonderful things in some pretty amazing places. The videography alone is out of this world. Their videos are around 20 minutes long and worth the watch. Instead on bingeing on Netflix, you need to sit down for a little Bucket List Family and chill.

You can find them on Instagram as @thebucketlistfamily , their website, and their YouTube Channel. You will fall in love with them INSTANTLY!

Additional peeps,

Rachel Hollis - I am assuming you already follow her because she has 1.6 million followers…chances are you are well aware of her but in case you have lived under a rock the past couple of years, you can learn more about her on website.

James Clear - I loved his book Atomic Habits and now I get his wisdom delivered to my inbox each week. He’s basically my life coach and he’s always spot on with his advice. You can find out more on his website, James Clear, as well.

I love following these people on their journeys because they inspire me. Time spent on social media and the internet can be productive when you have the right intention. These are all people who are going after their dream life while showing up for others. In their own unique ways, they are impacting people in a positive way and what’s not to admire about that?

This is my thanks to these amazing people for showing me how to live a well-lived life and for bringing me a bit of joy each day.
